Mr. Patric Novel Austin

1989

BISAP started its 1st journey in 1989 with cooperation of Mr. Patric Novel Austin a renowned Humanitarian Worker of Ireland and started Humanitarian work in Chittagong & Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh..

British ODA

1990

Started Community Development & Social Work with Financial Assistant of British High Commission (British ODA) in Chittagong Coastal region.

CAFOD U.K

1991

Work with most vulnerable & needy community people of non local Refugees & Urban Settlement for improving their Hygienic behaviour through Financial Support of CAFOD UK.

Organized workshop on Advancing Sustainable Environmental Sanitation at Caritas Hall, Fringee Bazar Chittagong with cooperation of Mr. Novel Patric Austin & Rabita al-Alam al-Islami.

Installed Sanitary Latrin, Tubewell installation in Bhatiyari, South Patenga, Ananda Bazar, Baluchara, South Halishahar, Shikolbah and organized National Seminar on Sanitation and Environmental Hygiene at Chittagong District Council Hall , Participants were from policy makers to beneficiaries including relevant Govt. Officials, NGO’s and Community Leader where Mr. Abul Kashem Deputy Commissioner was the Chief Guest On 30th March 1991.

MEMISA The Nederlands

1991

Established community Health in Thickly Populated area of Urban Slum of Ward No-13, 09, 19 with cooperation of MEMISA The Nederlands and started Health Camp & Health Awareness raising in the targeted areas.

CRS

1992

Constructed 2 Primary Schools (Semi Pucca-Building), 1 Health Care Center, Constructed 30,000 low-cost housing for Post Cyclone hit people, Installed 10,000 pit latrines for the vulnerable communities, Installed 3500, Tube wells for the coastal communities along with distributed Food-Aid among 3000 beneficiaries with support of Catholic Relief Service (CRS).

1993

Arranged post cyclone damage repairs among 50000 Refugee camp dwellers and urban settlement along with community Latrins construction, dranage repairing, pavement constructions, both Chittagong & Dhaka with financial support of CAFOD U.K. & Rabita Al-Alam Islami Muslim World Leage.

BILANCE The Nederlands

1994

With the generous financial support of BILANCE, The Netherlands, 300 unschooled children aged 6 to 10 received non-formal basic education along with co-curricular activities in Ward # 13 & 09. This initiative not only equipped them with essential learning skills but also fostered their holistic growth and development, paving the way for a brighter future.

1995

200 low cost healthy latrin were being install for reduction of waterborn disease and improving health status for coastal people of Shikalbaha Char Patharghata, Char Lakkha, along with establishing 60 adult education centre where 330 adult learners completed their functional literacy course in the meantime.

CORD-AID The Netherlands

1996

The Emergency and Rehabilitation Programme was launched to provide immediate relief and restore normalcy for the victims of the coastal cyclone disaster. In addition to life-saving support, the initiative focused on empowering coastal communities through technical, vocational, and manual skills training. By enhancing productivity and self-reliance, the program helped individuals rebuild their livelihoods and foster long-term self-dependence, creating a pathway toward sustainable recovery and resilience.

Andheri Hilfe Germany

1996-2000

The Women Development and Poverty Alleviation Programme, supported by Andheri Hilfe, Bonn, Germany, empowered 1,500 marginalized women across several Upazilas in Chittagong District, Bangladesh. Through the formation of 75 homogenous groups, these women were not only united but also empowered to elevate their social status. The program enabled them to assert their rights, fostering a sense of confidence, independence, and agency, while paving the way for a more equitable and inclusive society.

CORD-AID The Netherlands

1997

Coordinated Efforts for Empowering Women in Alleviating Poverty and Hunger in the Chattogram Coastal Region, supported by CORD Aid, The Netherlands, empowered 1,000 women organized into 50 groups. This initiative focused on reducing poverty in Patiya Upazila, equipping these women with the tools and knowledge to uplift their families and communities, fostering long-term economic and social change.

MRDF

1998

Collaborating with the Union Parishad and Upazila Parishad of Patiya District, we successfully established the Federation Building People Organization, which led to the formation of village and union committees. This initiative created new opportunities for distressed women, empowering them through organized support structures that fostered community engagement, leadership, and sustainable development.

Melania

1998

The Care and Protection Service for distressed children in Chittagong and Cox's Bazar Districts, supported by Melania, made a profound impact on the lives of 500 children. Through the establishment of dedicated Children Protection Centers, we mobilized communities around child protection issues and built a robust referral network to ensure immediate and continuous support for vulnerable children. This initiative not only provided essential care but also created a safe environment, fostering the well-being and future potential of every child involved.

1999

Vision for future for poor women, adolescent girl & street Children reducing eye disease and problems of 400 poor women, adolescent girl by primary Eye Care, Education, Campaign and Treatment with cooperation of Ministry of Health & the Dhaka Samity were organized by BISAP providing them with the treatment they needed to recover and regain their sight, empowering them to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

2001

Implemented project on Sharing Knowledge to Adapt Climate Change in Chittagong Hill Track supported of BANCAT & WOCA (World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies), Switzerland.

2002

Established 50 Non-Formal Education (NFE) learning centers in Chittagong and Bandarban districts, providing essential education to marginalized communities. Through Teacher Training, Educational Materials, and the organization of Adult Education and Vocational Skill Development Centers, we empowered individuals with practical skills and knowledge, fostering self-reliance and improving their socio-economic prospects for a brighter future.

Implemented project on Community Water supply & Sanitation in Refugee Camps & Urban Settlement supported by of Japan Water Forum.

The Mercury Phoenix Trust

2005

BISAP successfully implemented a one-year intervention integrating awareness and education to prevent HIV/AIDS and other STIs while promoting safeguarding awareness among adolescent boys and girls, as well as young adults. This initiative directly contributed to Bangladesh's National Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS Response (2006) by preventing new infections among key populations, aligning with Strategy 1 of the policy.

Implemented project on Community Based Conflict Management between Human and Wild Elephant in Chittagong Forest Zone Rangamati, Chunati, supported by International Elephant Foundation U.S.A.

IIRR/Give 2 Asia.

2023-2024

Participated in a conference at IIRR, Silang, Cavite, Philippines, focused on Disaster Preparedness and the Power of Local Leadership in Climate Change Adaptation. The event highlighted alternative agriculture strategies for vulnerable floodplain and coastal communities in Bangladesh. Supported by IIRR/Give2Asia, the initiative emphasized sustainable solutions to enhance resilience in Waterlogged and Disaster-Prone regions.
