Empowering Health & Hope for Refugee Camps Dwellers & Urban Settlements of Chattogram district in Bangladesh.

The project adopts an integrated, community-led approach to transform the lives of the most neglected Refugees and Urban Settlements in Chattogram Districts in Bangladesh. It will establish Community Health Hubs staffed by trained Staff Team and imparting awareness building to ensure access to primary health care and health promotion. Simultaneously, communities skills-building through imparting skill development training empowering vulnerable youth and distressed women with livelihood establishing entreprenureship development aligned with market demand. A peer-led awareness model will promote hygiene, nutrition, and community health with refferel network & refferel service. The project will also form Safe Space Committees to prevent gender-based violence and advocate for protection. Digital tools will be used for tracking Health trends and delivering e-learning. These innovations will lay the foundation for sustainable health, safety, and economic self-reliance.

Empower vulnerable communities through skill development and sustainable livelihood initiatives tailored to local needs. Impart life skilled training in digital literacy, home-based enterprises, and health-safe practices to ensure continued income during pandemics. Facilitate access to tools, markets to strengthen self-reliance. Promote inclusive approaches, especially for women and youth, to enhance resilience, reduce vulnerability, and build adaptive capacity for future health and economic crises.

Creating Listening & Learning Spaces for Resilient Families and Communities: Advancing Sanitation, Hygiene, Health, and Nutrition Awareness

Establish inclusive Listening & Learning Spaces at the community level to foster dialogue, awareness, and behavior change on sanitation, hygiene, health, and nutrition. Engage families through interactive sessions, storytelling, demonstrations, and peer learning to promote safe practices and improve well-being. Involve community leaders, health workers, and volunteers to ensure cultural relevance and sustainability. Special focus will be given to women, children, and marginalized groups to enhance  knowledge, encourage healthy habits, and build resilience against disease and malnutrition. These spaces will empower communities to take ownership of their health, creating lasting impact through collective action and informed decision-making.

Promote community preventive health care personal hygiene

Promote community preventive health care and personal hygiene through awareness campaigns, household visits, and interactive community sessions. Train local health volunteers to disseminate key messages on disease prevention, handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and safe water practices. Distribute hygiene kits and demonstrate low-cost, effective solutions for daily use. Engage schools, religious institutions, and local leaders to reinforce positive behavior change. Special attention will be given to vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly. This approach will strengthen community-level health resilience, reduce disease outbreaks, and foster a culture of prevention and cleanliness for long-term well-being.

Established community-led enterprises to build brands, aggregate products, and unlock sustainable market access for development

Establish community-led enterprises to enhance local livelihoods by building recognizable brands, aggregating quality products, and ensuring sustainable market access. Train vulnerable women in skilled development, entreprenureship development, handycraft, embroidery. Facilitate linkages with buyers, digital platforms, and fair markets to boost income and visibility. Promote value addition and cooperative models to increase competitiveness and reduce exploitation by middlemen. Prioritize women and youth participation for inclusive growth. These enterprises will foster ownership, economic resilience, and long-term development by transforming local skills and resources into viable, market-ready opportunities.

Promote Social analysis and root causes of diseases and poverty

Promote community-based social analysis to identify and address the root causes of diseases and poverty. Facilitate participatory discussions to explore links between poor sanitation, malnutrition, unsafe living conditions, inequality, and limited access to services. Empower communities to critically assess local health and economic challenges and develop action plans based on shared understanding. Engage local leaders, women, and youth to ensure diverse perspectives and inclusive solutions. This process will strengthen community ownership, build awareness, and drive targeted, sustainable interventions that break the cycle of poverty and poor health for lasting impact.

BISAP is leveraging digital literacy and dynamic platforms like Facebook, SMS, and local community networks to drive widespread awareness on primary healthcare and pandemic preparedness. These tools enable real-time, inclusive communication, reaching even remote populations with life-saving health messages. In partnership with BDSMSNET, a leading digital network in Bangladesh, BISAP empowers  communities to access accurate health information, recognize early symptoms, and adopt preventive practices. Trained volunteers, local leaders, and staff act as digital ambassadors, amplifying messages and engaging diverse groups. This innovative approach ensures rapid, impactful outreach building a more informed, resilient, and health-conscious community prepared for current and future challenges.

Vision for All: Community-Led Eye Health Awareness and Care Campaigns

BISAP has been organizing impactful Community-Led Eye Health Awareness and Care Campaigns to serve the most marginalized and underserved populations in its project areas. These campaigns offer free eye screenings, treatment referrals, and awareness sessions on eye care, blindness prevention, and eye shadow operation in Lions Eye Care Hospital & others concern hospital through refferal service. By mobilizing local volunteers, health professionals, and community leaders, BISAP ensures culturally sensitive and inclusive outreach. Special attention is given to elderly individuals, women, and children—those most at risk yet least served. Through these people-centered initiatives, BISAP empowers communities to take charge of their eye health, reducing preventable blindness and enhancing overall well-being and productivity.

Every year, BISAP innovatively responds to the urgent needs of cold-affected, vulnerable communities by organizing impactful Winter Blanket Distribution Drives. With active involvement of program staff, volunteers, community leaders, educators, health providers, and faith figures, the initiative ensured dignity-focused, need-based support warming not only bodies but also the hearts of the neglected and marginalized people.
